Lotus is a modern interpretation of the flower traditionally venerated in Sri Lankan culture. As a symbol, the Lotus evokes a sense of growth, and blooming. And this concept of progression is integrated into the piece via a simple repeating geometric principle. A series of detailed quadrangular frames, rise up and reduce in proportion - independently suspended at different levels in the atrium of the Colombo World Trade Centre VIP entrance lobby. The high-gloss stainless steel material engages with light to create infinite aesthetic moments depending on one's perspective. Moving up the tower, the visitor can appreciate the individual section in front of them, or see it within the context of the frame sequencing by looking either up or down. Lotus is kinetic, elevating through space in a rhythm of ascension and lateral suspension.
