LENS

Focus isn't always a question of clarity. It’s about purpose, the catalytic - a new orientation of the eye. Lens evokes these ideas. A large 30 foot circular disc leans at an angle towards the Black Hawk Mini Park. An artistic singularity. A series of blades turn around themselves, as the body of the large circle creates an open and closing 'eye' into the mall. In the day, the sun’s rays throw shadows of the form into moving circles on the park’s paving stones - circles within circles, light reflected down vertical blades. By night, within the inside circumference of the circular form, discreet strip lights animate the sliding geometry of the louvres, bringing a sense of theatre to the Park.
