GATEWAY GALAXY

Adaptive and constantly changing, the artwork of Gateway Galaxy creates a complete environment that is constantly re-invented by the students of Casper College in an on-going dialogue. Three elements provide a walk-through experience of a world marked by serial form. The first is a two-storey panel that pulses with colour strokes, set away from the wall on a sheet of acrylic. Next, a horizontal line travels along the walls in a continuous circuit to mark the thresholds to study rooms. In the centre of the hallway, benches appear as 3-dimensional growths, social lines for community gatherings. None of the patterns are periodic or repeated, but are currents of a random organized rhythm that is felt rather than directly perceived.
