KAUNAS CONCERT HALL

The concept of the Ciurlionis Art Centre is a moving landscape of events. Beginning in the public park, a series of intimately connected plateaus rise towards the performing spaces.

The massing is chosen to create a scale of forms, spread out on the south side so that the Arts Centre is not one large object presented to the City but a distribution of urban forces projecting a new focus to Kaunas, extending the town’s influence to the South Bank.

The large park is as important as the building program and offers to the public new spaces for the city by riverboat and road bridge to the west and pedestrian bridge to the East. To those who love in Aleksotas, the project is a catalyst for new cultural, recreational and economic benefits without having to move the Northside.
